Is there a difference in ingredients for a wedding cake versus a regular cake?

February 24th, 2009
Doo asked:

I know that wedding cakes are made in advance, usually a few days to a week, of the wedding day. I’m wondering if there is something unique about a wedding cake recipe that differs from a typical cake recipe so that the cake stays moist for so long. We’re looking for a great chocolate wedding cake recipe if anyone as any! THANKS!

What’s your favorite wedding cake flavor? Do you prefer cakes with many options or just one?

February 19th, 2009
Soon To Be a Mrs. (8/1/09) asked:

My fiancé and I love strawberry filled wedding cakes. Yummy. I personally like having different flavored layers as some people don’t like strawberry… I’ve thought of chocolate which the groom’s cake is traditionally but he’d prefer a different flavor (although it’s a surprise). I was curious what other people like.

Congratulations and best of luck in planning and in your marriages.

Thanks for the answers.

What is the proper wedding etiquette for rehearsal dinner familial contributions?

February 17th, 2009
Allie asked:

My fiance and I are planning a wedding and his parents aren’t in a very good financial way. We know where we’d like to have it and that we’d like to keep it intimate. We were wondering how we should ask if they would like to contribute without offending them and how much say they should have in how / where we have the rehearsal dinner.

We’re planning on paying for everything ourselves and we would leave it at that but we know they want to contribute in some way so how do we bring it up?

What are you engraving on your wedding bands?

February 13th, 2009
NaughtyAngel B2B♥4/17♥ asked:

We just bought our wedding bands this past weekend, the wedding is 3 months away. Not sure if we should engrave them or not. The thing is, my ring was super expensive (my fiance was adamant on me having that specific one) so we wound up getting him a tungsten ring for now to save money and are planning to upgrade him to platinum too on our 1 year anniversary. Should we even bother getting them engraved if we are planning on changing his ring? Also, my engagement ring is not engraved, if that makes any difference.

Thanks!
